Elf Trapping

A holiday tip: when trapping elves, it is best to use the right kind of bait. I've found that the elves in my house cannot resist leftover Filipino noodle dishes.

Many happy returns to you and yours on this, the most frigging blessed of holidays.

Behind the Passion Vines

Was meeting some friends for some crepes tonight, and swooped in on Stacy and Scott at Anastasia's Antiques, who were trimming the passionflower vines that cover their front windows. Always cheerful and friendly, those two.

As always, strolling through their rooms is an adventure. Discovered a giant tarantula and Victorian hair wreath that were in excellent condition, as well as a delightfully eerie selection of mannequin heads. The variety of items, which are arranged carefully in their cases, create otherworldly tableaus--and their new tenant sets the whole thing into motion.

A highlight was the huge display case full of antique ventriloquist's puppets. If you're in Philly this December, stop by 6th and Bainbridge, and have a look.

Turkish Delight

Was recently visiting Random Tea Room and heard this lady wafting over my hojicha. Have a listen. It's divine. She's divine.
